Catholicism Urged Me to Pick Between Sexuality Or Christianity
Does this mean I can’t worship God if I love sex?
I’ve been pondering about this issue, and I can’t find an answer because I couldn’t understand why I have to pick between the two; sexuality or Christianity? I love God, I worship him and I frequently attend a Catholic Church, I also never fail to keep the sabbath day holy. But, there’s a crucial comma in this situation — I love sex.
Does this make me a hypocrite?
It was on a Sunday morning during the homily (preaching) when my parish priest made mentions of the sins that the pleasures of the flesh promote. Nothing new, all Christians know of the fact that waiting till marriage is the way of the church and even though many have failed, they still continue to worship God after honest penance.
What left me in astonishment was when a priest said,
- IVF (In Vitro Fertilization) wasn’t allowed
- Condoms and contraceptives weren’t allowed
- And sex is only for the sole purpose of procreation; this means that as a Christian married couple, you and your partner are only allowed to have sex when a baby is needed.
This homily was by far the most surprising one for me because I never thought about…
